Thailand Project: Miti Mai

In 2006, New Vue began working with villages in the mountain regions outside Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai, Thailand.  Children living in these rural Akha tribal villages are at high risk of being kidnapped or stolen by human traffickers and sent into sex slavery in Asia and worldwide.  These children, boys and girls, once taken, may be lost forever.

Akha children who attend school are less likely to be targeted by human trafficking brokers.  Just $15 provides a school uniform (required) that allows an elementary school student to go on to attend middle school.  In conjunction with Miti Mai, our sister organization in Thailand, and local teachers, we have raised money to help provide school uniforms to graduating 6th graders.

Akha women are incredibly talented with fabric and do needlework and embroidery from an early age and continue throughout their lifetime.

New Vue pays a fair price for their handiwork items and offers them to you as a “thank you premium” for your donations to our ongoing project to help keep Akha children in school.  We also appreciate “no strings donations” help further our Miti Mai project.
